Story Behind It
The area around the pier is used for port operations, including helicopter access in emergencies, which explains the name that stuck in recent years. For a long time, this side behind the main port remained "off the map" for most, a passage used mainly by local fishermen and those who knew how to navigate the paths of the peninsula.
The gradual development of the port and the need for alternative spots within the urban fabric brought this small, unofficial beach into the spotlight. The path running through it is a unique route: it starts from the heart of the port zone, passes in front of the deep waters of the Helipad, and continues uphill towards the Lighthouse, linking modern Kavala with the atmosphere of the old town.
